Description:

Scott Air Force Base (AFB) is a key U.S. Air Force installation situated near Belleville, in St. Clair County, Illinois. It is named after Corporal Frank S. Scott, who was the first enlisted individual to lose his life in an aviation accident. Located about 17 miles to the east of St. Louis, Missouri, the base holds a strategic position in America's Midwest region.

The base's primary unit is the 375th Air Mobility Wing, which provides crucial support to global mobility by executing air refueling, operational support airlift, and aeromedical evacuation operations. In addition, the 618th Air Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), also based here, is responsible for the coordination and execution of all Air Mobility Command missions across the globe.

Scott AFB is also recognized as a significant transportation center. It is home to the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), a functional combatant command that delivers full-spectrum global mobility solutions to the U.S. combatant commands, defense agencies, military services, and other government entities.

Furthermore, Scott AFB accommodates the Air Force Network Integration Center (AFNIC), which oversees the design, execution, and management of the Air Force's digital networks. It also houses the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), a DoD combat support agency, providing command, control, and information-sharing capabilities to support military operations worldwide.

Apart from its operational roles, Scott AFB also features a variety of facilities, including housing and educational resources, catering to the needs of the service members, civilian employees, and their families.
